THE ULTIMATE LIST OF MOM EMPOWERING CHARITIES IN VIRGINIA

THE ULTIMATE LIST OF MOM EMPOWERING CHARITIES IN VIRGINIA

My most recent trip through the TSA was a bit disappointing.  They didn’t seem prepared for me, a pregnant woman, to opt-out of the full body scan… WHAT?!?

I stood around for 15 minutes each way while they sorted out the "strangeness" of my request.

Why was this so unusual?

A pregnant woman skeptical about a machine that has undergone no long-term tests.

The website says it's safe. Personally, I'll believe it when I see the facts. But there were no links pointing to no scientific studies or research where I could read about the machines for myself.

After many inquiries to the TSA about this... I realized that mothers need a bigger voice in the United States and maybe the world.

I completely changed my platform (as the newly crowned Ms. Female Entrepreneur Virginia 2018) to support the empowerment of mothers in all areas of life.

Moms need a say in the regulations that impact them.

Who's doing this work?

I asked Google for charities in Virginia empowering moms. No luck!

Maybe I used the wrong search terms.

All I could find was a mix-mashed list  of organizations serving the entire world. Yikes!!! I just wanted something local to start supporting near my home town.

So I created it myself. A big fat list of mom empowering charities in the state of Virginia for those of us looking to give back and make a difference to moms in our communities.

Let me know if I've left any active mom centered organizations out.

Don’t take my word for these charities. I only verified that they are still active online.

If you’ve found a charity and need help finding out if it’s a legitimate place to donate your funds or volunteer your time... be sure to do your own research.

Check the Charity Navigator, give them a call, visit their local office, and check this approved list of Virginia charities for 2017-2018 before committing to anything.

If your a busy mom like me I know you don’t have a lot of time to waste on options that don’t really exist. Right?!?

But above all remember that your safety and comfort in a situation is the primary goal. Take a friend, use a third party like Paypal for donations, or partner with your company or church.

Enough with disclaimers.

What are your favorite mom empowering charities? Are there any organizations I need to add to this list?
